Working to order

the contemporary artist in the service of the community

In painting, the artists impose (and propose) subject, colors, contrast with colors...
on us. During an exhibition, when I fall in love with a painting, I complete my own collection. Nevertheless, it's more and more difficult for me to find a painting which comes up to my sensitivity. It's why the idea of "ordering" has to be considered. Today, unfortunately, less and less painters know how to come up to the expectations of the people who order a painting. In art history, painting, sculpture, music, theatre, literature, cinema... how many masterpieces were works stemming from ordering!"
Indeed, the user goes and sees the artist (as a specialist) in order to get the works he needs. And the artist simply works to order. It's not really what the artist has to say the important thing, since the subject (in this processes) is given to him, but the way whose he is going to say it.

To paraphrase a great musician, the production of a contemporary artist could be stated in the following way. Dividing in two categories the pictorial compositions :

1- artworks painted on one's own initiative as a result of a sudden desire and an urgent impulsion;
2- artworks inspired by people from outside, for example at the request of a friend, an editor, or a person who wants to place an order.
It's good to add that the value of an artwork doesn't depend on the category to which it belongs. Often a painting (or a drawing), which is artificially produced, is very well executed, while sometimes the artworks due to inspiration have less good grounds.
Since several years, I work for public order (for example, the 14 paintings in the choir of the Larmor-Plage's church) or private order (general public, firms, etc.). Realizations can go from portrait to landscape, from nude to still life, etc.
The used techniques are oil for painting and graphite, sanguine, charcoal, black stone, pastel, etc., for drawing. Others like BG (Brown Guillevic) -a matter with walnut stain- are the fruits of research into matter.

Other realizations : mural paintings "a fresco" (fresci) on outside spaces; mural paintings "a fresco" on inside spaces straight from the wall or "oil paintings" on removable panel(s). Paintings (in all sizes) on the ground which are inserted into a watertight casing with, of course, the surface in transparent material.
