SIf spirit of the dead man fails, so he is destined to be eaten by the keepress and to wander eternally.
If he succeeds in finishing correctly the drawing (as the one of the opposite photo), so he will go to the land of the dead in order to rejoin his ancestors.

It's a myth still existing in the islands of this region related along the sandy fields. Which reveals the essentialism and the sociological nature of these drawings on the sand.
